Glasgow 2014

Saturday, November 10th, 2007

Yesterday Glasgow won the bid to host the 2014 Commonwealth Games. This is a brilliant boost for a city that is still recovering from the effects of under-investment from fifty years ago, and in particular the East End where the average male life expectancy is 54. What a pity the news is met with reactions such as this.

In celebration, some of my favourite pictures of Glasgow from around Flickr (thanks to urbandavepics, neilforrest, acarb83, amaldon and silversprite):

The obligatory photos of bonfire and fireworks, and finally a use for the “fireworks” setting on my camera.
